Ruairidh MacRatha of Cusidh*** competed at his first show at the Scottish Kennel Club August Championship show at the tender age of three. This was a very special day for us as Ruairidh is a result of over 10 years of breeding from an original Deerhound * Greyhound mating. Ruairidh was registered as a Deerhound by the Kennel Club last year (click here for some further details) but had not previously been to any shows. However, we decided to take the plunge this year and after a bath and attendance at a couple of training classes in Perth with Claire we hoped he was ready.

So how did it go? Well Ruairidh was absolutely excellent and took everything in his stride. We were surprised how well he took to the ring - in fact he stood better for the Judge than all of the other more experienced Cusidh hounds put together! Then to have him placed second in a strong Post Graduate Dog class with eight dogs present was an absolute delight. Indeed he has now qualified for Crufts. Congratulations Ruairidh and here's to your Great, Great Greyhound Granny.

A very big thank you to everyone who has helped and supported us over the years with Ruairidh and his past breeding and to our Judge Dr Marjorie McKinnon. Here are some pictures of our day.

Wee Dram (Cusidh Drawing Down the Sun) has done it again winning Best Puppy in Breed at the Scottish Kennel Club (SKC) Championship Show at Edinburgh. Congratulations. Not to be out done though his sister Rosie (Cusidh Dreaming Spirit) was second in Puppy Bitch with his brother Cusidh Ring around the Sun fourth in Puppy Dog and his Dad, Ronan (Cusidh Homecoming) first in Limit Dog. We had a great day and many thanks to our Judge Dr Marjorie McKinnon. Here are some photos of our day. The lighting in the hall wasn't great though so some of our photos haven't quite worked. However, there's more news to come so watch this site!

The pups were out in force at the Deerhound Club Championship Show. This was held in conjunction with the Hound Show at Stafford. The pups travelled from Scotland, Milton Keynes and from Hay-on-Wye to meet up. Leaving Cusidh Ring Around the Sun to look after things at Cusidh base camp.

The pups are now eight months old and coming along well and seem to have enjoyed all outings so far. First in the ring was Cusidh Drawing Down the Sun (or Wee Dram). Standing is still proving something of a challenge for this boy but apart from that he was ever so good and won Puppy Dog and then went on again to win Best Puppy. Congratulations. Both Treacle Moon (owned and handled by Jennefer Cooper) and Dreaming Spirit (Rosie) were in a class of 11 entries for Puppy Bitch and were fourth and second respectively. Well done girls.

The pups Dad Cusidh Homecoming (Ronan) was also there to keep an eye on them and he managed a good thrid place in Limit Dog. We had a lovely day and thank you to Judge Ms Kay Barret. Please click on the read more for a couple more photos and show critique.

P1050429 (Medium).JPGWe had a great time at the June BSFA lure coursing event. This was Styx's (Brylach Over the Broomstick with Cusidh) first ever lure coursing outing and she took to it well. She was running with Beardswood Quilan and both ran strongly after the lure with Quilan catching the lure just before the finish. Banrigh (Ch Drawing Down the Moon) also had a great time. She was running on her own as we didn't think, that at 8 1/2 years old, she'd manage the full course. However, she proved us wrong and finished in good style. We hope to get Styx out and about a bit more to lure coursing events if possible as she's certainly shown a talent for it. Here are some photos of the day with Styx getting some coaching in and into the "zone" at the start and enjoying her run.

Cusidh Drawing Down the Sun had a good first outing at Southern Counties winning Puppy Dog and then Best Puppy. Congratulations and thank you to Judge Mr Unto Timonen.

He's known as Wee Dram at home and his best friend is Styx (Brylach Over the Broomstick with Cusidh). This was his first outing and although he appeared incapable of standing still for most of the time he really did ever so well. Here are some picutres of the day below. His sister Cusidh Treacle Moon to Chapeltower is also taking to the ring and she was 3rd in Puppy Bitch at Bath - well done.
