The Deerhound Club Limited show was held in Grangemouth on 20th September. It was a real team effort and a very busy time but we were delighted that all the organisation came off and an excellent day was had.

Clan Cusidh were out in force - even Creubhag (Riding the Wind with Cusidh) decided to move from her favoured Craigend top spots to attend her first show in many a year.

Here are the Cusidhs at Grangemouth below. Peter Grant is on the left with Ruairidh and Creubhag, Ian is next with Ronan, Claire is with Rosie, Rob with Wee Dram and Elise is with Styx. All the photos at the show were taken by Tricia Macpherson and she did an absolutely superb job. First up are the girls and we were really pleased that Creubhag (Riding the Wind with Cusidh), at nearly 10 years of age, won best veteran and Reserve Best Bitch. She hadn't competed at a show for over 5 years. However, at Grangemouth she really enjoyed her day storming round the ring without any problems along with the other 9 year olds!

Here's the judges Dee Blatchford's critique "Great to see a good number of healthy veteran bitches. All bar one in this class were over 9yrs old and a credit to the breed and their owners. 1. Cartmell’s Riding the Wind with Cusidh. Almost 10yr old dark hound. Very well-muscled and in excellent condition for her age. Good feet and correctly sloping front pasterns. Balanced angulation. Moved with power and drive. She looked like she was thoroughly enjoying herself."

Then Styx (Brylach Over the Broomstick with Cusidh) won a good Open Bitch class and managed to behave herself when she caught up with her breeders Charlie and Moira Spence on the day. Again the critique was "Cartmell’s Brylach Over the Broomstick with Cusidh. Rising 3yr old hound. Long cast hound with length correctly in her ribbing. Feminine head and expression. Good angulation fore and aft with powerful, well-muscled hind quarters. Moved well."

The boys didn't let us down either with Creubhag's son Ronan (Cusidh Homecoming) winning Open Dog, Best Dog and Reserve Best in Show. Well done Ronan. The Judges's critique was "Cartmell’s Cusidh Homecoming. Mature, almost 5yr old hound. Good dark, crisp coat. Fit, well-muscled and looks like he could do the job for which the breed was intended. Good length in his ribbing. Strong, arched loin. Balanced, powerful angulation fore and aft. Moved very well.Best Dog and RBIS."  It was also great to see Maggie (Cusidh Eilid) Ronan's sister competing at the show with a 2nd in Special Beginners Bitch.

Continuing the family theme Ronan's son Wee Dram (Cusidh Drawing Down the Sun) won Postgraduate Dog and Reserve Best dog. "Cartmell’s Cusidh Drawing Down the Sun.  Shapely, dark dog. Good dark eye and typical expression. Balanced angulation fore and aft. Excellent bend of stifle and well-muscled quarters.  Moved well with drive.  A fit and masculine hound.  Reserve Best Dog.

Wee Dram did excel himself in the fun classes. Winning hairiest legs and the bone and spoon race with Rob! Then the eleven legged race.
